RFID Timing
I created a bespoke Raspberry Pi timing system which scans RFID wristbands and cards to allow us to time a race. The Python based system uses the unique ID's on the wristbands and cards to record start times (mass start or staggered) and a finish time to calculate a total race time. The system syncs scanned data to an online database (MySQL) every 30 seconds to allow the results website to show realtime results.
As with several of the Pi projects I created a bespoke 3D printed housing for the electronics.
I now offer the system out for other races to use. It has a cheaper alternative to the Aerial race systems used.
